Escape
Nicotine

You were never weak. You were conned.

The app's premise is simple: nicotine installs an itch, sells you relief from it, then calls that relief pleasure. Escape Nicotine is a private, self-directed app built around CBT-informed reflection and optional hypnosis-style guided audio — so you can examine the Nicotine Trick, one belief at a time.

A wiry con man made of smoke, tipping his hat and offering a cigarette like a card trick
He's been running the same trick on you for years. Time you saw it performed slowly.

The Nicotine Trick

See where the card goes.

Nicotine never gave you anything. It installed a faint itch, sold you relief from that itch, and called the relief pleasure. Escape Nicotine names that sleight of hand the Nicotine Trick.

This is not another lecture about trying harder. The app runs the act in slow motion — every "pleasure," every "stress relief," every "reward," every "just one" — hands visible, so you can examine the story underneath the desire. Once you see where the card goes, the performance can look different.

The Little Trickster

The physical addiction

The body-level pull and withdrawal sensations that can demand your attention between doses. Their timing and intensity vary; the app invites you to notice the performance instead of automatically joining it.

The Big Trickster

The mental addiction

The learned stories and associations that present nicotine as pleasure, comfort, reward, identity, or escape. That patient whisper can return around a wedding, a crisis, or a campfire. The app gives you a structured way to examine it.

"He can't make you do anything. All he can do is lie." The iron rule — repeated until it's yours

Two complementary tools

CBT-informed reflection.
Hypnosis-style guided sessions.

First, the app turns tools associated with cognitive behavioural therapy into short, plain-language exercises: notice the automatic thought, examine the evidence, question the story, and record the rating you choose. These are educational uses of CBT concepts, not individualized therapy.

Then each chapter offers an optional hypnosis-style guided audio session. The prerecorded sessions use focused attention, a slow conversational induction, imagery, repetition, and a structured return to revisit the chapter's idea through calm, focused listening.

One belief at a time

Each core chapter isolates one familiar pitch, then invites you to look closely at the thought, the evidence, and the meaning you give it.

Your written record

Lock-In ratings create a private Belief Curve — a visual record of the ratings you choose after each core chapter.

Guided audio

Optional hypnosis-style sessions translate each chapter's central idea into focused attention, imagery, and repetition.

One Long Breath

An in-the-moment breathing tool gives you a simple place to pause, name the pitch, and ride the wave.

A self-directed educational program for adults — not individualized therapy or medical treatment.

Your progress, made visible

Watch him shrink.

The home screen shows the Tricksters at one of five visual stages. The stage is driven by your latest Belief Curve rating — the question you answer after each core chapter — not by chapter completion itself. Move the slider to preview the five-stage visual scale.

Stage 1 of 5: both figures are at their largest.

This isn't a mascot. It's your progress bar.
No streaks, no day counters — the only thing measured is how much of the lie is left.

How it works

Read it. Test it.
Rehearse it.

The app does more than present an idea once. Each core chapter lets you read or hear the argument, examine the underlying belief with a CBT-informed exercise, and revisit the idea through an optional hypnosis-style guided session.

01

Read or listen

Character-led chapters in plain words — read them, or let the narrator read them to you. Each one examines a piece of the act: the "pleasure," the "stress relief," the "best ones," the "just one."

02

Test the belief

CBT-informed reflection turns the chapter's idea into something you can inspect: notice the automatic thought, examine the evidence, and record the rating that fits you.

03

Rehearse the scene

Each chapter offers an optional hypnosis-style, eyes-closed audio session — focused attention, a slow conversational induction, the chapter's scene in imagery, and a counted return.

Anatomy of a session

  1. The induction (2–3 min).

Conversational, permissive, unhurried — your attention is invited from the room, to the voice, to the breath, into a quieter style of listening.

  2. The scene.

The chapter's idea returns through imagery: a day in the free life, a wedding watched through new eyes, the last of the smoke rising.

  3. The return (1–2 min).

Counted back up from one to five — room, temperature, the weight of your own body — and out on two words: wide awake.

  4. The Lock-In.

Each core chapter ends with three questions. Your answers draw the Belief Curve and shrink the Trickster on your home screen.

The session player: dark screen, progress ring, one pause button

For the hard minute

"There he is."

The SOS screen with the One Long Breath wave pacer

One button, always visible. When a wave of wanting hits, the app answers with One Long Breath — an animated pacer with the trickster named for what he is:

in — 4shold — 2sout — 8s

"That's him, not you. One long breath. Watch the wave pass — every wave you don't feed makes him smaller."

Each wave you ride gets logged: +1 wave survived. Planning a wedding, a trip, a hard week? The Ambush Scheduler sends a reminder the evening before and opens guided sessions from chapters you have already reached.

The quiet parts

Built like it respects you.
Because it does.

Come see how the trick is done

"Nicotine can make its stories sound convincing. You can learn to see the pitch."

Why this exists

Created by Dr. Peter F. Kruger, a physician who spent thirty years caught in nicotine's con himself — medical degree and all. That lived experience shaped Escape Nicotine's voice: direct, compassionate, and unwilling to take nicotine's familiar sales pitch at face value.

The app uses no streak or day count to measure your worth. It does not shame you; it gives you a private place to examine the story for yourself.
